What to Expect During Your Appointment

Your treatment begins with thorough cleansing to remove makeup, oil, and skincare products, ensuring the wax adheres properly. A light pre-wax oil or powder may be applied as a protective barrier on delicate facial tissue.

• The upper lip is divided into small sections for precise control
• Wax is spread following hair growth, then removed quickly in the opposite direction
• The chin is treated in sections across the front and underside
• Skin is held taut throughout to minimize discomfort and prevent bruising
• A soothing product—such as aloe vera gel or post-wax lotion—is applied immediately after to calm the skin

Mild redness is normal and typically settles within 24–48 hours. Over time, repeated waxing weakens follicles, leading to finer, softer regrowth and often longer intervals between treatments.

Aftercare for Best Results

Proper aftercare protects your skin and extends your smooth results:

• Avoid sun exposure for 24–48 hours to prevent sensitivity
• Skip makeup on the treated area for at least the first day
• No exfoliating products, retinol, or strong acids for 24–48 hours
• Keep the area clean and cool; use gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers
• Avoid very hot showers, saunas, or steam immediately after
• Don't touch or pick at the treated area

After the first 24 hours, very gentle exfoliation can help reduce the likelihood of ingrown hairs, particularly where chin hair is coarser.

Is Facial Waxing Right for You?

Facial waxing suits most people and is effective on a wide range of hair types, from fine vellus hair to coarser growth. However, a few considerations apply:

• If you use retinoids, exfoliating acids, or prescription acne medications, your skin may be more fragile—timing waxing away from strong skincare use is advisable
• Recent chemical peels, microdermabrasion, sunburn, or active breakouts in the area may be contraindications
• Those prone to hyperpigmentation should use extra sun protection post-treatment
• Clients with very low pain tolerance may prefer alternatives such as threading

Scheduling your wax at least a day before major events allows any temporary redness to settle. Regular appointments every 3–4 weeks maintain consistently smooth skin and, over time, lead to finer regrowth.
